Give a Year's Worth of Books - Support the Dolly Parton's Imagination Library

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a book gifting program that mails free, high-quality books to children from birth to age five, no matter their family’s income. 

Reading begins at birth, and the benefits of a home library go far beyond the books. Parents and guardians are a child’s first and best teacher. By providing books every month at no cost to families, the Imagination Library increases childhood literacy rates, fosters a love of books, and promotes a culture of reading among all families in Washington. Through this program, every child enrolled (age 0-5) receives a free age appropriate book in the mail every month. 

The Rotary Club of Gig Harbor, with support from Altrusa Club of Gig Harbor, is the sponsoring organization for the Peninsula School District area. This means that we partner with the program to pay for postage and book costs (roughly $31 per child, per year.) Since 2022, over 44,500 books have been mailed directly to children in Gig Harbor and on the Key Peninsula, and we feel the program is worth every penny.
